Celebrity chef Paula Deen recently announced that she would begin a multi-city live cooking tour this summer only weeks after announcing she would be opening a new restaurant in Pigeon Forge.

“Paula Deen’s Family Kitchen” is set to open late this summer at the Island in Pigeon Forge, joining a growing list of Smoky Mountain attractions and restaurants, including the Great Smoky Mountain Wheel, Build a Bear, Timberwood Grill and Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville.

Deen’s projected 20,000 square foot restaurant in Pigeon Forge is the first of a number of new expansions to the family’s retail and restaurant operation. The project has been budgeted at $20 million per year and was said to be pursued by developers to offer tourists and locals a unique dining experience.

Weeks after announcing the restaurant, Deen also announced the launch of a multi-city live cooking tour, with the first two dates in Pigeon Forge.

Beginning in June, the “Paula Deen Live!” tour will include 20 shows throughout the South. The 90 minute live show will include audience games, personal stories and, of course, cooking demonstrations. The two Pigeon Forge shows will be held June 21 and 22 at the LeConte Center.

The show will begin each night at 7:00pm. Tickets are $42.50, $55.00 and $72.59 per person. She will also have a meet and greet from 5:00pm – 6:30pm with preferred seating for $211.00 each.
